I keep meaning to do a big post on menopause, as one who’s gone through it, and emerged out the other side, but I never seem to get around to it, so maybe some bite sized pieces of advice will be more manageable, particularly for those things people don’t talk about like ... urine leakage.

There are a couple of kinds of incontinence associated with menopause; stress incontinence and urge incontinence. Stress incontinence is caused by things like coughing or sneezing, and urge incontinence is when you have no urge to pee ... until you get to your front door and can’t find your keys, and have to go now.

Something else that happens is leakage during sleep; waking up and being damp and smelly.

So, a one word solution: kegels. Do ‘em every time you pee, and this will help with at stress incontinence and leakage at night.
