So back just after the election I mentioned in here that I was writing to my congressperson about the ACA. Well, I got a reply back last month (I’ve been busy with work, so I didn’t get to posting it sooner), and I thought I would share with you all. I still don’t know what to fully make of this, but at least I got a response, so that’s a plus(?).

Thank you for contacting me regarding the Affordable Care Act (ACA). I appreciate the opportunity to respond to your comments.

While I recognize that some individuals have benefited from the ACA, I also understand that millions of families are struggling to pay premiums that continue to rise significantly and small business owners are constrained by the cost of mandates that they cannot afford. We need a health care system that works for everyone. To accomplish that goal, more must be done to improve the quality of our nation’s health care system and contain rising costs. I believe that rather than supporting increases in federal spending and bureaucracy, Congress must work to lower costs and increase access to affordable care. That is why I support reforming medical liability laws, allowing insurance to be purchased across state lines, combating fraud and abuse and promoting wellness and prevention programs.

In the 115th Congress, I look forward to working with my colleagues and new Administration to strengthen our health care system for all Americans. Please know that although we may disagree on this matter, as we continue discussing health care reform in Congress, I will keep your specific thoughts close in mind. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
