How can the law vacate a murder charge just becausw convicted is dead? CNN is reporting this due to how appeals work. The victim’s grandmother says Hernendez is a murderer. Does this mean she opens herself up to libel suits from the family or if anyone calls him a murderer?

Unless the defense finds proof of innocence to reopen the case the appeal should end with the jury conviction. Is this how it works across the nation or distinct to Mass?

Also does this mean family now gets the NFL pension since he is now not guilty? If so wouldn’t suicide be an incentive if convicted of murder and sentenced to life (If they lose their pension due to murder conviction)? I hope not just because it becomes an incentive for suicide and could lead family members to encourage the suicide.
