I've decided I am adding this to my list of things I need to do this year: I need to dress myself properly. In the past year, I'd say 90% of my wardrobe has been clothing I've acquired at swaps or passed down to me from friends. I've lost most of my personal sense of style from being thrifty and literally borrowing from the styles of others. At work, I'm surrounded by fancy business people, and it reminds me that I look slovenly lately and maybe I should try to put in the littlest effort to show I care about my job (unlike my last job, where I hated it so much that by the end I was showing up in hoodies and whatever was closest to work appropriate pjs daily).
Back when I did care about clothes, I was really skilled at pairing cheap thrift store finds with vintage clothes and looking very put together. But I've since lost those skills and to be honest I think I'm wearing someone else's bra right now.
I've decided one thing I can do this year is purchase one nice put together item of clothing a month and redo my wardrobe. I'm budgeting $50 per item, one item per month (meaning if I find a dress for $24, I'm not allowing myself to buy a second one for $26). I love pinup inspired things, so this isn't going to be easy. Any suggestions of sites I should check out? It's gonna be a slow process to put together a whole closet of nice clothes, but I think it'll be worth it in the end.
