It's snowstorm time! Every single school and church in the county has closed due to the snow and subzero temperatures today. I, however, am still waiting to hear if I have to go into work. Because I work in a tutoring center, they won't close unless every kid calls off. Last time we had a snowstorm I nearly killed myself driving to work, because ONE kid was still coming in. If I have to go in this afternoon and there is only one kid in the center, it's gonna be really hard to keep myself from throwing a fit. And since I'm the only teacher on the schedule tonight, there is no chance I will be called off unless they close the center completely. Just like the last snowstorm. Why am I always the only one scheduled on the really crappy weather days? I am one of the teachers who lives farthest from the center. All I want to do is stay in my warm pajamas under blankets and drink warm beverages all day.

Edited to remind parents out there to think about the workers at the activities where you take your kids. If you live right next to the place your kid goes, think about the teachers who live farther away. If you wouldn't feel safe driving across town in the weather, please don't ask your kid's teacher to drive across town.
