Alright, I'm kind of curious about this. When reading posts do you assume the gender of commenters? If so, what leads you to assuming that gender? Is it where they post or what their user name is or is it their content?

I realized, that I assume all Jez/GT/Powder Room commenters are female by default, but on other sites in the Gawker Media family, I automatically assign a male identity to commenters (Gawker, Deadspin, Kotaku). This only really changes if someone makes a specific comment about their gender or if they have a really obvious female/male username.

There's no real point to this, I was just curious if other people do this too. It seems like one of those things that's a brain-shortcut when dealing with people who we can't physically see.
