Sorry cronut, your moment in the sun must come to an end because your older, cooler sibling is making a comeback today - it is the tastiest of days, the very best of days, it is National Donut Day. Omnomnom.

If you like your donuts with a side of history… National Donut Day is celebrated every year on the first Friday in June. It succeeds the Donut Day event created by the Salvation Army to honor the "Donut Dollies," women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The holiday dates all the way back to 1938 (because even in the olden days everybody loved donuts).
