Today we went to a birthday party for a 1 year old. We got him a SpinAgain from the Fat Brain Toy Company and it was the hit of the party. It’s a stacking toy, with a pole and coloured disks that go on it, but the pole is threaded like a screw, so the disks spin as they go down. Also the pole can be removed from the base, so when you lift it, the disks can spin right off the bottom of the pole.

It won a Parent’s Choice Award last fall. It’s great for hand-eye coordination, cause and effect, and even learning how to put things together. The little guy we bought it for was mostly interested in figuring out how to put the pole into the base. He couldn’t quite work out how to put the disks on yet; he kept trying to put them beside the pole midway down, but his 3 year old sister quickly mastered it. I am sure he will figure it out. Puzzling things out is the big point of this toy.
