Kind of a shitty experience to be honest, but at least I know what I need to do from here.

All the pain I'm having is coming from my wisdom tooth, as I expected. Dentist said the tooth and the surrounding tissue are infected, but that it's not severe. He put me on antibiotics and told me I'd need to get it extracted in the next week. This guy, though...I don't know if he was just super busy, or has been doing this for too long and forgot about bedside manner, but he was really rushed and gruff with me. I told him I hadn't seen a dentist in awhile, was in a lot of pain and having some serious anxiety and he LAUGHED. In a very patronizing way. What in the actual fuck? I'm sitting here near tears and you laugh at me? Jackass.

He put that mirror thing in my mouth and I cried out when it touched my cheek where the tissue is all inflamed, and he said "I'm just looking around, I'm not touching anything." Ugh. Missing the point. Then he started barking out things about the oral surgeon, saying I needed to get an emergency authorization from my insurance company and then I could go into surgery TOMORROW at which point I started full on crying. I walked out into the waiting room and told the woman at the front desk that I am a college student in the middle of finals and I can't just jump into surgery tomorrow, I have to be present enough to be able to study and get through my last days of class. She seemed somewhat more understanding but at that point I was so mad and shaken up that I just told her to have the surgeon's office call me, paid my $5 copay and left.

He gave me an RX for an antibiotic to get rid of the infection before I head into surgery, but I had to specifically ask for something to manage the pain, after I had told the nurse I was taking 8 aleve a day and waking up in tears. They gave me hydrocodone-acetaminophen.

So, yeah. I definitely will not be going back there ever again. All they did today was an emergency toothache exam, so when I get the tooth extracted and heal I will absolutely be seeking a different dentist for my full xrays and check up.

I hate going to the dentist. I hate, hate, hate, hate, hate going to the dentist.
