When I was 17, I popped something in my rib cage while holding a long note during jazz choir. I will admit, I had an atrocious lack of upper body strength until the last 6 months. It always looked weird - flatter and more to the side than the other rib - and felt a bit uncomfortable with pressure, but I mostly shrugged it off. Lately I've been trying to get in better shape and about a week ago I did something to it that made it more uncomfortable. It doesn't exactly hurt, it just feels weird. Weird pressure, weird sensation like something is sitting on that side of my chest. Occasional mild stabbing pains. I haven't had the greatest time figuring out what it is. When it first happened I went to a doctor in my hometown (very small, honestly kind of crappy medical options) and he said, I shit you not, "You look fine! No one will ever notice!" He wouldn't even talk to me about if something was actually wrong. I assumed it was something that happened to people with anorexia or body dysmorphia or something. Now, since it's bothering me again, I've been reading online and it looks like it could be a dislocated rib, which the internet says to treat by going to a chiropractor. I've never been to a chiropractor. Is this a good idea? Has anyone else ever had this problem?
