If you can't find a sitter, and you're going to a dance class, especially a fun energetic one, for the love of all that is holy, bring your kids. They make it so much better.
One of the guys in my swing dance class had to bring his kids with him last night. BEST.THING.EVER. We were learning to Charleston, the the little ones (about 4 and 6) joined in. They were so incredibly cute and added such a great energy to an already great environment and weren't distracting since we were all bouncing around anyway. Plus they were yelling out (correctly) the rhythm which was in one way great, in another way embarrassing because a 4 year old picked it up more quickly than the adults...
And best quote of the night "Just be careful with this move, you want to watch out that you don't kick each other, or the wall...or a small child."
What I'm trying to get at is that parents can feel guilty that they have to bring their kids places with them (the Dad clearly did, but loosened up when he realised that we were all having a blast with them being there). This was a case where having kids running around and yelling didn't cause any extra havoc. You aren't always being judged - your kids being loud is sometimes just fine. Us childfree people sometimes appreciate some cute kid distraction. Perhaps a 5 star restaurant at 9pm isn't a great idea, but a swing dance class totally is.
