We haven’t really done one of these in awhile, so let’s talk about food.

It’s been a long and stressful day (“what do you mean you have to be at cheerleading practice 20 minutes away in 15 minutes!?” Also got one of those oh-god-what-did-he-do-now calls from the school. Those are so much fun) so I’m cranky and have a headache.

And then I opened the freezer in the kitchen and realized that things in there aren’t quiiiite as frozen as they’re supposed to be. Stuff on the top 2 shelves was downright soft, in fact. I can’t tell if the freezer door just didn’t close all the way, or if there is something actively wrong with the freezer. It’s been acting up lately, and the ice cube maker/water dispenser bit has stopped working entirely a few weeks back. Housemate, who can fix anything and has all the info for warrenties, etc., if she can’t, isn’t home until much later.

2 kids aren’t home, and 1 prefers to feed herself, so I made a bag of frozen veggies, half a bag of frozen fries, a couple of tamales for BabySmacks, and a gf/df burrito for LittleSmacks3, and pulled out a package of bacon, a package of pork and apple sausages, and a couple of salmon steaks to thaw for later. I packed the rest of the stuff into the bottom half of the freezer nice and tight and told everyone not to open the door until Housemate comes home.

Oh, and I had some of the veggies and fries and a leftover brat (from our Memorial Day grillout) on a bun topped with grilled mushrooms and onions and a slice of havarti cheese.

So, what’s for dinner, GT? Descriptions and pictures always welcome!
