Earlier today i posted this article. It got a lot of comments and after reading through them all i have come to a conclusion. I was wrong. I didn't think about all the layers of the issue before i posted my thoughts on this advertisement. Layers including the idea of policing, victim blaming and the long history violence towards POC. My intent was not to suggest that POC need to control what they wear, it was concern that a company was creating something that could be used by a racist to justify another murder. I also showed disrespect towards the person who's untimely death i was referencing, Trayvon Martin. For that, i am sorry. I was not intending my words to suggest i for these things because nothing could be further from the truth. I also understand that if people want to kill someone for being a different race, they will use any excuse no matter what it is. My comments may have made it seem I am advocating restriction of clothing for certain people and if that is the case, then I apologize.

My hope in writing this is to clear some things up and hopefully help me regain the faith of the community. I know GT is selective of who they allow to post and I feel privileged to be given that right. Whatever good I thought I was doing by making an example of this advertisement, it ended up doing more harm and putting forth an image of myself that I don't believe is accurate, and I think my posting history shows that. I understand there are a lot of issues when it comes to topics like this and perhaps I'm not equipped to handle all of them. So all I can see is that I was wrong, and I am very sorry if I said anything that hurt anyone here. I enjoy posting here and hope this will help moving forward. Thank you.
