I am in the very, very beginning stage of looking at houses. Despite being in my 30s and a working professional, I feel like such a child when I talk to my new realtor. I have no solid idea of what I want, just something not crappy. I could go for something that needs a massive cosmetic overhaul, or something that is turn-key.
I am flying out to my potential new city next weekend to look around with my realtor, who is very patient with me. But I want to sound at least remotely intelligent when we are looking at places. So I turn to you, GT, for guidance.
How did you decide what mattered most to you in a potential home. What are some random factors you discovered made a difference in whether you made an offer or not? What questions should I be asking about a potential purchase. What was the most frustrating part of the process? What do you wish you had known or done differently?
