Slight TMI after the cut ...

Today I was changing clothes in front of a full-length mirror, and I noticed I have some new stretch marks on my stomach near my bellybutton. I've always associated stretch marks with weight gain and/or pregnancy. However, I'm definitely not pregnant, and I haven't gained any weight ... at least I don't think. The only major lifestyle change I've made lately is going to the gym at least once or twice a week for at least 45 minutes at a time. My routine is a mix of treadmill, exercise bike and walking around the gym track (I haven't exercised on a regular basis in a long time so I've been trying to keep things simple). Anyway, according to the interwebz, stretch marks can also occur with rapid weight loss, but if I've lost any weight, it hasn't been that much so far (I'm not going to lie, my diet is probably getting in the way of major pound sheddage). So, what gives? I know there's nothing inherently wrong with stretch marks, and I'm not embarrassed about them, but it's more I'm just really confused about their sudden appearance.
