Back story: A few months ago, a teen in LaGrande, Oregon (very eastern Oregon, in fact it's where Eastern Oregon University is) hung himself from the high school's football goalposts over being bullied for being openly gay. (In case you've missed it, eastern Oregon generally doesn't have the rep for tolerance to the level that the Portlands and Eugenes of the state do).

His father decides to memorialize his son by doing a cross-country walk to spread the anti-bullying message.

He was killed on Wednesday while walking a highway in Colorado after he was struck by a semi driver who may have fallen asleep.
