I was finally offered a new job! I started applying for new positions while I was on maternity leave. I had applied and interviewed for so many things that I’d lost track of what all I had applied for. My current position was sadly unfulfilling, mostly because my department has been incredibly under-supported for years by both library and university administration. The town we live in has become increasingly more violent, and we hear gunshots almost every night. There were at least 30 gun related deaths within a mile of our home in 2015.

The next month is going to be completely insane, with packing, trying to find a place to live in another state, and figuring out how to transition my 14 and 10 year old from one place to the other. But we finally received an advance distribution from my husband’s uncle’s estate, so the finances of moving are covered! We are relatively financially stable for the first time in many, many years.

HUGE thanks go to all of you, again, who have contributed to the GT Emergency Fund, which helped us keep our power on last summer, and to all who sent us things from our wishlist, everything from diapers and baby things to olives and other things to keep us fed. My family thanks you, and I thank you, and here’s a pic of my newly minted 1 year old, who just learned to say “kane koo,” as well.
