I’m super proud of my Linux users group because not only did they adopt an anti-harassment policy ages ago, but at yesterday’s huge multiple tech meet up holiday party they posted it at the sign in tables and on various walls on the venue.

We recieved a report that someone violated the policy, which on the upside means that the promotion of the policy somewhat worked. We handled the complaint, in this case by kicking the harasser out because that’s what the situation warranted.

But, what frustrated me is that the report came in as the person being harassed was leaving, so we couldn’t do anything about it until it was too late to help the person being harassed.

So, any tips for facilitating earlier reporting? Anything we can do to make the process easier or less intimidating?
