A London receptionist was sent home from work after refusing to wear high heels. Her company’s dress code specified that women had to wear heels that were at least 2" high, even if she had to be on her feet all day. “Ms Thorp said she asked if a man would be expected to do the same shift in heels, and was laughed at.”

“She has since set up a petition calling for the law to be changed so women cannot be forced to wear high heels to work. It has had more than 10,000 signatures, so the government will now have to respond.”

Seriously- heels are proven to cause long term health issues when they’re worn too often and in the wrong conditions (i.e. anytime you’re not just sitting around all day). How can it be legal to mandate something that could cause joint problems?
