The fella and I had far too much fun at the cat show yesterday, followed by checking out ice sculptures in the park, and then returning to the venue for a roller derby game. But by the end of the night, we were both so exhausted that we just got home and went to bed immediately. And then I woke up with that icky cold sting in the back of my throat. Now I'm sure I have a full on cold, which never happens.
As a kid, my parents always treated a cold with gua sha, which is a southeast Asian remedy which involves rubbing a coin with ointment onto the skin until it bruises into a bright red. Google it, because the images probably aren't for the faint of heart. Of course, there's no way I can convince my Midwestern farm boy of a boyfriend to do this for me because it looks cruel and sounds insane. So I'm left to my own devices for cold remedies. So far, all I've done is have spicy food, lemon water, and some ginger tea. I feel like hell. what remedies have you grown up with? Send me your snake oil! In exchange, I'll name you 10th best kitten.
