Dare I say that I am actually…proud of Kotaku for this post?
I rarely rarely comment there (the comments can get rather vitriolic very
quickly), but I love that this conversation is actually happening. There are the usual disgusting/troll-y ones,
but I think the positive and constructive comments are winning! About 60% positive to 40% negative!
Some of the GT posters (looking at you Pope, and Niamhsqualor!) have already shared some of the amazing comments coming out of this. Carrissa even waded into the fray with an amazing video! (Sorry if I missed anyone else!)
Even Steven Totilo (the editor in chief) wedged himself into some threads offering support to commenters against harassment and discrimination.
It's Kotaku, and no commentariat is perfect, but the peanut gallery for this posting was not nearly as bad as I was expecting it to be. Still, don't read the comments if you don't want to become extremely pissy at some abject stupidity.
Could the Kotaku comment section actually get better?
