Something about this news article tickles me. It's probably this quote which gets me the most:


"I've stopped an attempt by militant atheists to ban councils having prayers at the start of meetings if they wish," said Pickles. "Heaven forbid. We're a Christian nation. We have an established church. Get over it. And don't impose your politically correct intolerance on others."

Oh no! People might have been prevented from praying at the start of Local Council meetings! I'm sure the 6 or so people in the UK who actually pay attention to these meetings would have been devastated.

Ignoring the bit about politically correct intolerance, which is normally code for "I don't want to listen to you when you speak about diversity", I find it amusing when people like Pickles state this is a country of Christians. Funny how they are so keen on religion, except when that established church they are so found of tells them that its the Governments fault that Food banks are on the rise. Then they all start talking about the importance of the separation of state and church....
