Especially if you live in the Pacific Northwest. That was the day that Mt St Helens finally blew her stack. It was truly a spectacular show and reminder of Mother Nature's power. I lived in SE Portland as a kid and still have ash my dad gathered from our front lawn. My mother figured out the hard way that wiper fluid won't clean ash, that it creates something more akin to cement.

I like to hear stories from other people who were in the area or who weren't, but heard the hullabaloo from afar.
