I've had this idea for a while now and was kind of waiting for the holidays, when everyone's lives kind of settled down to suggest it here. Anyone interested in doing an old fashioned, meet up once-a-month style book club? We could meet a library, or a bar, or a coffee shop. I've been participating in other Jezebel book clubs, but I am always better at contributing (and listening) thoughtfully in person. There are a ton of books I'd like to read and I'm really open to any genre. Just though it would be fun to grab a coffee and talk about books that I don't have to read for my job. If we can get at least three or four of us, I think it could be a cool thing!

Another possibility if people would be interested in changing it up every once in a while, is that we could check out the Franklin Park reading series in Crown Heights. I've been before and really enjoyed hearing some stuff that might not have otherwise been on my radar. Here's a link: http://franklinparkbrooklyn.com/2013/07/31/rea…

ETA: Okay looks like there is some interest. I'll work on setting up a burner email so that I don't have to put my personal one up here for all of the internet to see. Do people want to start throwing out suggestions for a first title? I'll edit to update as we get more suggestions and maybe after we get 10 or so I can make a poll and we'll vote.

As for a first meeting date, should we aim for the third week in Feb? That's about a month from now. I can make a poll for this too!

So far we have :

THE INVENTION OF WINGS by Sue Monk Kidd (my suggestion)

THE GOLDFINCH by Donna Tart (has gotten a ton of media attention in the last few months)
