So for those of you who spent the early 2000s under a rock, Big Block of Cheese Day is an episode of (and running joke on) The West Wing. It was based on the real life practice of Andrew Jackson, when he placed a huge hunk of cheese in the White House for one day each year and invited ordinary citizens to come and talk to him, high level staff and members of congress about issues that would not normally get the attention of the White House.
So it turn out that the Obama administration is doing a virtual big block of cheese day on January 29, 2014. Where high level staff will be open for questions online, all day. So check it out. I am personally going to try and get the Mercator projection abandoned once and for all!
