I finally finished writing and now I have to edit out every instance of the word "this" because my professor hates it. I used it 52 times in a 20-page paper.

Then I have to edit out basically every time I used any conjugation of "to be", unless it's directly followed by an adjective. Will this make my paper better? No. Will I get a better grade? Yes. SIGH.

ETA: Changed "In addition, her ironic power over the Commander is removed because he is displayed in the movie as cruel and using his power to get what he wants from Offred, in this case company." to "In addition, her ironic power over the Commander is removed because he is displayed in the movie as cruel and using his power to get what he wants from Offred, which was company." AM I A GOOD WRITER YET

ETA2: Okay, all instances of "this" are out except for one in a quote and one that says "to this end". Now to remove all instances of "to be". There are 127 of is, 23 are, 29 be, 65 was, 27 were, and 13 been. God help me.
