ME AGAIN! Here is your regularly scheduled Fifty Shades of Coral post. I talk about lipstick, because of course I do. I've got a hoarding problem, ok?
Good afternoon, mes petites!
I hope you are enjoying the Spring Cleaning guest series! I know I certainly am, and she makes me feel like such a slacker when I've seen how much she's gone through, and also everything she's gotten rid of! Anyone else doing some spring cleaning? I really should, but I can't bring myself to part with any of my makeup bits and bobs, unless the product was hopelessly never going to work for me ever. It's a problem, I know.
Anyway, today I wanted to chat about some new lip products I've been using and loving! I've been hearing about Rimmel's Lip Lacquers for some time now, but it wasn't until recently that I saw them pop up more frequently in shops. Naturally, I had to grab a couple and give them a whirl!
I have to say, I've been pleasantly surprised by these. I had half expected them to be versions of Covergirl's infallible lip color (whichever one comes with the lipstick thing and also a clear gloss on the other side), which I haaaaate. It's sticky, it hurts as it is drying, it's just an awful product. These, on the other hand, are quite lovely! They're maybe not as moisturizing as I'd like them to be, but the color payoff and staying power make up for that. They've got good shine, you don't have to reapply them a million times, and they smell a little like watermelon.
Swatches! So I only grabbed two colors, #201 'Solstice' and #401 'Aurora' (side note - they all have space names and I love that more than is probably normal). On the left is Solstice, my favorite of the two. It reminds me of my Chanel lipgloss, is slightly sparkly, and a great every day color. Aurora, on the right, is a fantastic bright red-pink. I'm determined to get into wearing bright lipstick on a regular basis, as I feel it is the perfect way to add just a bit of color, and really brightens up your whole face (especially on those days you've not felt like putting a lot of effort into your makeup... whoops!). Each applicator has a little 'dip' in the middle of it, right where you would normally put it against your lips, which allows you to get more color where you want it - as opposed to my usual "Oh God how did I get it everywhere?!" messes. Love that! It also just feels cool when you put the gloss on, which is always a bonus in my book.
My verdict? These are excellent products, and I fully plan on buying some more colors. They also ring up as less than $6 each (at least at Walgreens, where I got these), so how could I say no - especially the next time they go on sale, or I get a Rimmel coupon! Have any of you tried them? What do you think?
Bisoux, mes petites choux!
