Rachel Held Evans, for those of you who don't know, is a progressive Christian blogger and author. She posted this gem on FB last night and I wanted to give her fist bump for it...

Christians in the U.S.: Getting wished "happy holidays" by a store clerk ≠ persecution. Sharing your rights and privileges with others, including those with whom you disagree ≠ persecution. Not getting everything you want ≠ persecution. Being contradicted or encountering disagreement ≠ persecution. Having a coworker who is gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender ≠ persecution. There are indeed people around the world, and in the U.S., who are persecuted for their faith, their gender, their sexual orientation, or their political affiliation. Let's not diminish their very real suffering by tossing that word around lightly or imagining it where it does not exist.
