When writing a resume, is it necessary to put every single position you've had? I have job hopped a little over the past 6-7 years, averaging about a year and a half in each position. Almost all of the jobs I've held have had the exact same specialized duties (optical sales) so on my resume I have the three jobs that I was with for the longest periods of time. I'm just a bit confused because many of the jobs I'm applying for are asking for a resume AND a more detailed work history within the application itself. This one I'm filling out for american airlines states very specifically to list each job that you've had, offer a clear explanation of any gaps in employment, AND provide references that can attest to your activities during any periods of unemployment. Yipes. Thoughts?
