TW: Pet loss... obviously.

After a brief illness, my family said goodbye to our cat, Pigeon, today, and I’m heartbroken. He was between 8 and 10 years old (we never knew for sure, since he was a rescue). He was a aggressively cuddly, grumpy, adventurous, tough, and free-spirited.

He got very sick very fast and was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, which doesn’t have a particularly good prognosis with treatment and is deadly without. My boy was a... difficult... kitty to treat, and we didn’t want to put him through the stress of the procedure (potentially several 24-48 hour procedures) for a “maybe.” Monsieur and I took him to the vet this morning and gave him pets and kisses as he breathed his last. He is now buried in a lovely spot in our garden out back.

I feel kind of lame making a grand announcement and courting sympathy like this... but damnit, I want sympathy! Besides, I know so many of you are animal lovers and will get it.

Anyway, here is a recent video of le chat, La Petite Comtesse, et Le Petit Comte. It’s the very essence of Pigeon.
