It’s over. Right? That sure seemed like a “hurry up and wrap up in case there’s not another season” kind of hamfisted montage. But I suppose it could go either way. I’m quite ready for it to die and put us all out of our misery. Unless they can hand Sherlock off to new showrunners too.
Things I liked about this series/season:
Sherlock continuing to show new emotional maturity/ affection for people / being nice to strangers even, but it didn’t seem like a total departure from who he has always been as a character - huge testament to Benedict and, loath as I am to admit it, that one aspect of the writing
Mycroft was fine I guess
How I felt about the rest:
We already had a good discussion about how they fridged Mary and, evidently, totally scrapped everything we have ever known about John’s character all in one horrifically awful sexist garbage-episode. And killed the great character dynamics between the 3 of them along with it. (Now I know Amanda Abbington and Martin Freeman split up IRL which is really bumming me out, but maybe that had something to do with it. Then again maybe not, because goddamn Steven Moffat.)
OHHHHH???? IT WAS A SISTER ALL THIS TIME???? YOU MEAN WOMEN EXIST AND CAN BE THINGS??? IT WAS WOMEN WHAT A SHOCKING TWIST!!!
WHAT AND THE GIRL JOHN WAS CHEATING ON HIS WIFE WITH WAS SHERLOCK’S SISTER TOO BECAUSE.... why??? why?????? Who the hell knows?!?!
Okay let’s just emotionally abuse Molly so we can see how upset Sherlock is about it and never even see her on camera for the rest of the episode because it’s all about how he feels for having to upset her, right???!!! ALL ABOUT THE MAN FEELS GUYS!!!
Who even is John now? An angry guy with Targaryen hair. (I can’t tell if it’s white or blonde or grey and it’s really distracting me.) What is he even doing there aside from being a grumpy-faced paperweight.
What even was the point of any of this?!
Argh. Please just let it be over and stop torturing me.
