Wed morning when I got up, the house was cold. I went downstairs, and the thermostat said 16 C. Went down to the basement and the furnace wasn’t running. Flipped thd switch on it, and it started up.

When I got home Wed night, everything seemed fine. Thurs morning, it was cold in the house again. Went down, flipped the switch, it ran for a little while, but then shut off. Told Mr Ivriniel the furnace seemed to have a problem, asked him to call the gas compNy and went to work.

Well, he likes the house cold and decided that unless the house dropped below 16C, he wasn’t going to call. I don’t know what he was thinking. It’s in the -2 C range outside right now and the furnace isn’t going to magically fix itself, and thd weather is only going to get colder.

Anyways, I got home and was a bit annoyed he didn’t call. Then before bed I decided to throw a load of laundry in the washer. While I was down there, I decided to throw the switch again.

The fan ran, but there did not seem to be any heat. I went upstairs and told him. A little while later I was near the basement steps and thought I could smell gas. I called him over, and yes, he could smell it too.

So now we are sitting in my car, waiting for the gas company. The basement door is open. I hope we don’t get a raccoon in the house.

Or blow it up.

I am a wee bit pissed with the Mr right now.

Update: Gas company man came. The electric ignition for the furnace isn’t working, so what I was smelling was just the small amount of gas that didn’t burn off during the furnace’s attempts to light itself.
