The city council in a local city recently voted to repeal the indoor smoking ban in the city. Light up: Casper repeals smoking ban for bars. They kept the smoking ban outdoors and in restaurants, but bars can now allow smoking.
This issue is one I really can't decide how I feel on. On one hand is "Yay! No smoking in bars. It's good for customers, servers, and everybody." On the other hand, I firmly believe that businesses should be allowed to run the business however they want. If they want to allow smoking, and people choose to go there, that is their decision to make. Several bars in town went smoke-free before the ban was even enacted, and any bar attached to a restaurant is smoke-free so people have options. I am absolutely a fan of bans on smoking outdoors, because that is an open space and people shouldn't be subjected to smoking just because they leave their house.
