I know we have discussed a couple of articles over the past few months about the rise of the trigger warning in places of higher-ed and the like. But I happened upon this article and it did the best job I’ve seen of explaining how I largely feel about the extensive use of trigger warnings and other things that can - whether inadvertently or not - stifle speech and hinder challenging but fruitful conversations. I’m still at work, so I won’t be able to respond as much as I can look at replies, but give this long-form a read and leave your comments below. I’m interested in your thoughts; I personally find that sometimes I fear wading into conversations for some of the reasons outlined in this article, even here. So share your thoughts! I’m interested and curious to hear from you lovely GTers on this.
