So this morning while driving into work I caught part of a piece on The Current, entitled "The Disappearing Butch". The premise of the article was that with greater access to gender reassignment surgery, a growing number of people who would have identified as (or been identified as) butch Lesbians are taking the option to transition to male.

I haven't had time to listen to the whole program yet today, but I gather from the website that later in the program, others argue that: "the butch identity is simply evolving, with younger lesbians presenting as masculine preferring to call themselves "queer" and not "butch."

Anyways, I thought that this piece might be of interest to people here. I'm really curious to hear opinions about this piece, as it is a topic I don't know much about. Does what they are talking about seem to ring true?
