Headline says it all. (ETA: okay, I guess if I put two links it won’t automatically do the showing-it thing: headline is “Homeland Security to Bypass Environmental Regulations In San Diego Border Wall Construction”)

I’d thought they were starting out in the desert, but according to this they want to update from the ocean inland, more or less.

Here’s another thing: there’s a park on our side of the border at the ocean there called Friendship Park. These days it’s only open so often. People can meet at the bit of fence that’s such thick mesh they can only touch fingers through it.

The Friends of Friendship Park have a petition to allow people to meet farther up the fence, where the bollards are far enough apart that people could stretch their arms through and hug each other.

And that is the current state of the border right there, where it stretches out into the sea. I do not know what they intend to do to it. I do not think it will allow hugging.
