Buzzfeed posted this great comic from tumblr that succinctly explains white privilege. It's simple, but it's a comic, and it still manages to get the point across. Yay!

Thinking it would be awesome to see more of this lady's artwork, I clicked on the link to her blog. But lo and behold, this is what I found:

Just in case you can't read it, it says:

I'll be back. Or mabe not I don't know...

Death Threats aren't cool bro.

That's It. This is the post that killed me.

That last line links back to the Buzzfeed post.

Umm.... SERIOUSLY?!!? This woman got run of the internet for trying to find an easy/understandable way to explain one of the pervasive truths of our time. Death threats. For talking about her privilege. And let's not forget the added layer of sexism that I'm sure went into that decision. UGH.

THIS IS WHY WE CAN'T HAVE NICE THINGS.

Since that page leads to the ask/submit function, I left her a nice note to tell her that she did a great thing and that I'm sorry she's being abused online. I figured she could use the support. Maybe you guys can too if you want.

ETA: I also found this study earlier this morning, that says white people think they experience racism more than black people.

The study finds that while both Caucasian and African Americans agree that anti-black racism has decreased over the last 60 years, whites believe that anti-white racism has increased. Moreover, the study finds that the majority of Caucasians believe that anti-white racism is a "bigger problem" than what African Americans face.

I think I'm more upset that I'm not even surprised.
