I've been invited to participate in a friendly regatta in the Azores next year. Housing, most food, and half my plane ticket are covered. So I'll probably spend around $600-700 all told.

Issues

1. It's in July, we'll have to practice all through June. I will most likely graduate this spring and move home, possibly find a job.

2. Mexador and I went to Disney last year with his family and it turned into a little vacation from hell. His grandfather got sick, mind started wandering, and never fully recovered (and died several months later). So while we went to the parks and everything, I spent a lot of time in the hotel room while he tended to his grandfather. He also discovered that he was just barely too big for one of the rides we wanted to go on. And that also ruined the whole trip for him. But now he's 100 pounds lighter (as of today!) and with his grandparents' passing, he doesn't have anyone to worry about but himself. So he wants a re-do of Disney next year to clear out the bad memories. This will likely cost about the same as the Azores.

So do I choose the once-in-a-lifetime trip I want to go on or the trip that I'm ambivalent about (location wise) but I know I should go on. Mexador tells me to go to the Azores, but of course he'd say that (ETA: I'm pretty sure he's just saying that because he thinks it's what I want to do. Disney is kind of a big deal for him after the year he's had).

I go back and forth in my head. I'm leaning one way, but I'd appreciate any thoughts you guys have.
