Thank you to whomever linked me to it earlier today. I found this post about covert misogyny in contemporary Christian culture that really hit home for me. My cousin is a diehard follower of a "nondenominational Bible church" (read: not part of any larger union and therefore accountable to no one, so they spew a lot of insanely exclusionary and hardline views under the guise of being a college-kid friendly church) and I have never been able to get through to him as to why comparing sin to used menstrual rags, as is the way his current church interprets a certain bible passage, is absolutely problematic and not okay.
