My city currently has a winter weather advisory. There are strong winds, and the snow has been heavy and constant since last night. It's just awful out there.
I work at a tutoring center, and I am on the schedule for a 3 hour shift tonight. Most schools in the area have already cancelled all evening activities. But of course, my center doesn't close unless it's a freaking apocolypse. And even if most kids cancel tonight, I will still have to go in, because I am the only one other than the director on the schedule, and even if there is just one kid, she can't be alone with a kid in the center. So I am gonna have to brave the shitty roads for a piddly 3 hour shift. I will add that I am a nervous driver even in good conditions, but driving in snow scares the ever-loving crap out of me, no matter how many years I have lived in the snowy north.
Did I mention that the ONLY route to work is one of the busiest roads in town, that is curvy and hilly and prone to ice forming on the 3 bridges it contains? Everyone send out their strongest mind powers that I get a call that tonight's shift is cancelled within the next 2 hours!
