A few years ago, I started on a never-ending webseries kick, and I was wondering if anybody else enjoys watching them and wanted to exchange recommendations. I’ll list my favorites!
This one is a recent discovery, and it’s amazing! British comedian James Veitch spent years replying to spam mail and makes videos describing his exchanges.
This one’s an oldie (in Internet time, anyway) but a goodie. The ending kinda fizzles out to me, but the show is very engrossing and it’s a rare non-comedic Youtube series. College students sign up for a Big Brother on steroids reality show and a dystopia ensues.
Lindsay Ellis (fka the Nostalgia Chick) explores various iterations of characters/settings/etc in film and TV. I’m a huge movie/TV nerd, so this hits all the right buttons for me.
This one features movie mistakes in a comedic setting. My absolute favorite of all time is one of his earliest videos on Twilight.
The Lizzie Bennett Diaries
Another oldie, a retelling of Pride and Prejudice in vlog form.
The Most Popular Girls in School
Stop-motion animated Barbie cheerleaders with gigantic potty mouths. The quality of the animation just gets better as each season goes on. This one is probably not to everyone’s taste as the language and material can get pretty crass.
Other faves include The Guild (available on Netflix) and The Mis-adventures of Awkward Black Girl, but I think most people around here are aware of those. I’ve heard good things about Edgar Allan Poe’s Murder Mystery Party, but haven’t gotten around to watching it yet. Anyone have any others that they love?
