This will be the third year in a row that I've been using Facebook/Tumblr to honor Black poetry during the month of February. I regularly post poems I appreciate but for this month it's at least one every-day. I decided to kick off this February with a video of Jasmine Mans' performance of "Birmingham" because it's a beautiful piece that speaks to a tragic moment in American History and is quite fitting for Black History Month, particularly given this year's theme being "Civil Rights".
I won't be posting poems here regularly, but I think this is an amazing piece and wanted to share it. I hope y'all can appreciate it.
