New documentary about three Black brothers in Detroit in the early 70s forming at least the first Black punk band. Possibly the first punk band (according to the filmmakers/distributors)? People pressured them to change their name which they steadfastly refused and the music was awkwardly placed in the middle of motown and disco so they eventually disbanded. They've been recently rediscovered, are now finally being recognized for being rock pioneers, are touring again (minus one member who passed in 2000), and even have plans to release singles and a new album Jack White's label.
I think I'm going to a screening next week and I can't wait to see it.
