K-Y Senator Rand Paul is in Detroit right now, here to celebrate the grand opening of a GOP minority-outreach office:
Gotta give the GOP some credit (lots of credit, actually) for not opening their office in some downtown office building; their new digs are located in an old-skool business strip at 7 Mile and Livernois, which is residential territory the minute you're off of either of those two streets. It's also one of the most densely populated parts of the city, so if they can't get the foot traffic there, they're pretty much shit outta luck.
Granted, opening an outreach office and making a real effort to engage the community are two vastly different things, and I expect them to get less than zero support from any GOP politician outside the immediate area, but it's a start. The again, it's how you finish that matters.
