In my area, there are a lot of second hand book shops. I love books, particularly second hand books and most of all books with inscriptions, dedications and things tucked between the pages. Having relatively recently developed an interest in classical history, I was thrilled to find this children's copy of Plutarch's Lives with big print and nice pictures.

I like it even more because at the front it says that it was given by a Sunday School to a child named Joan for Christmas in 1942.

Unfortunately, I then found this:

Now usually I leave things I find in books tucked in the page where I found them. And the hair does interest me. Why is it there? On the other hand, I am completely disgusted by it.
