I not-so-secretly LOVE Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. Unbridled enthusiasm for good, nonpretentious foods made by small businesses? I’m all about it. I love watching him yell at the camera as he drives around in that stupid car. I like his weird banter with the chefs and owners. I love trying to figure out whether he genuinely likes the thing he’s eating. Usually, when he doesn’t, he gives a very measured compliment like “wow, the textures are so complex, very interesting use of horseradish” instead of “HOLY SHITBALLS EXPRESS TRAIN TO FLAVORTOWN BWAHHHHHH.” Or so I think.

Anyway, this article made me feel vindicated/heartwarmed.
