I'm at the last episode. I started watching it last week and had to stop at the blowjob scene, and it's been bothering me ever since. This was my initial reaction (posted elsewhere at the time I stopped the episode):

I HATE what they did to Fig. I don't care how horrible she is, writing her comeuppance THAT way - sucking Caputo's cock and having it be for nothing, that's a classic "humiliating a whore who deserves it" storyline and it's just downright misogynistic. I hate it so much. I'm so disappointed in the writers, I could cry. Or you could see it as: after fucking him around for so long and his feeling repressed and emasculated by her, he finally gets his revenge by having her suck his cock.

But I haven't been able to shake the ick off, and today it occurred to me that it's bordering on coercion. Isn't it? He got it on a false premise. It was essentially a transaction - sex against a favour - and he knew beforehand he could not and would not deliver the favour. That's not just unfair IMO. But what makes me angry is not that this storyline was written, but that it was obviously written as "just desserts" for Fig, supposed to elicit vengeful glee or even a sense of justice. This is even more obvious from the concerted effort to revamp Caputo as a good guy this season.

Figueroa is obviously a horrible human being who deserves retribution for her crimes and her cruelty. But writing her retribution - a woman's retribution, a woman in power's retribution - this way and inviting the audience to approve of it? This is misogynistic IMO.

I searched GT to see if there was a discussion but I couldn't find anything. Does anyone else feel the same way?
