Just wanted to encourage everyone to listen to the NPR Story linked in the larger story on The Root.

What it doesn’t really say is that all seven white men gang raped her and then left her on the side of the road to die. And that this was common practice by white men in Jim Crow South, to kidnap black women and rape them.

It’s amazing, that black women kept coming forward to report sexual violence committed against them, knowing that they would never see justice.

Then think a black woman coming forward about how a white man raped her. The courage that took. The courage of those black women.

Recy Taylor survived. She is still alive at 97.

It’s an amazing story.
