Las Abuelas de Plaza de Mayo, is an activist group that’s connected to Las Madres de Plaza de Mayo, with the specific goal of finding the children of those killed in Argentina’s Dirty War.
At least 500 children or more are known to have been born to the 30,000+ “Desparecidos” and now, 119 have been located. The reasons for the kidnapping of children, was for the sole purpose of having them raised by military junta families, in order to stamp out opposition.
In this most recent case, a man, Mario Bravo had doubts about his identity and approached the group for help. Not only did he find out about his grandmother, but his mother, who survived two years in captivity and was told never to talk about it.
Today, they will meet for the first time.
