Welcome To The Bitchery

This article has been making its way around some of the cooking groups I’m in. It’s raising a lot of heated discussion... And I don’t necessarily think anybody is wrong in those discussions.

Basically, those that are upset are frustrated that in the article she unnecessarily, and unfairly, called out two other women (neither of who are doing what she accuses them of) ...And maybe coincidentally or not, both are Asian women.

Those defending her are accusing the people of calling her out for being an opinionated, ambitious woman. (and there was some of that, people calling her conceited, saying she “sounds like a real bitch”, and such)

I have a lot of thoughts on this...Basically I think both sides are right. Some people are jumping on to criticize her because she isn’t being sweet sunshine and rainbows; she clearly has thoughts and opinions and isn’t afraid to state them. But, she could have made her points just as well without dragging down other women, and the fact she chose those two earns an eyebrow raise and “hmm, interesting choice”.

But I’m kind of interested in other thoughts on this. Or just the general topic“how do we find that balance of not criticizing women for being smart, ambitious, opinionated, but also not just letting everything they do slide just because it is another woman doing it.
